FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable workout clothes that you feel ok sweating in. You’ll be laying down some of the time with your hands or legs in the air so make sure your clothes move with you. If you choose to wear gym shorts: please wear underpants or bike shorts. We recommend wearing grip socks for Pilates. Bring a water bottle – we have water for you.
Please: No belts, zippers, or buttons that could catch and tear the equipment upholstery.
Do you offer special rates for new students?
Yes. Please visit our Rates page to see the Introductory packages for new students.
Can I register for classes or training sessions online?
Yes. We use an online registration and scheduling system called MindBody Online. Start using it by setting up an online account. You can also use our Body Evolutions studio app to schedule your next visit using your Android or iPhone.
Will I lose weight?
You will be building and toning your muscles and that muscle will continue to burn calories, even after you have left class. Many of our classes inject some cardio into them to help get your heart rate up and whittle away pounds. Calories in, calories out – with proper diet and a good mix of classes, you can definitely lose weight. That being said, our programs work best in conjunction with a good nutritional program.
Is Pilates for guys?
Absolutely! It was started by a fitness buff, Joseph Pilates, and it remains a great workout for men.
How long is a session or class?
Private and semi-private sessions and apparatus classes are 55 minutes long.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes. Gift certificates are available online or in the Studio. Choose any denomination you wish. We will be happy to assist you with your decision and encourage you to contact us at (408) 559-9700 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your questions, needs, and timeline.
Why is there a 24 hour cancellation policy? What if I get sick or have an emergency?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy, because we are a professional studio and our teachers reserve the time and keep it available for each client. They are booked by the hour in each shift. 24 hours allows the studio and teacher to book another client and fill that void. We understand that unforeseen emergencies come up. However, traffic, work and being under the weather are cancellations so please always cancel ahead of time if you foresee that happening to avoid being charged.
Is Pilates safe to do everyday?
Working out 4 to 5 times a week is ideal. Come a few times a week and mix it up with a bike ride, swim or hike to keep your work outs interesting. Joseph Pilates said: “In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference. In 20, you will see the difference. And in 30, you’ll be on your way to having a whole new body.” Of course, we would love to see you every day!
Can I bring my kids to the studio?
Unfortunately, we don’t have the space for child care. We love having little ones stop by to say “hi,” but we ask that children do not stay at the studio. This is for their safety and to ensure safe, fun workouts for all by minimizing distraction for both trainers and clients.
Can I bring my pet to the studio?
Sorry, no pets allowed. We love pets, but ask that you not bring your pets to the studio. Some people are allergic to animals, and because they're so darn cute can be a distraction to both trainers and clients.
PRIVATE TRAINING FAQ
Can I get private training?
Yes. Private training is ideal if you are new to Pilates, are recovering from an injury, or have specific fitness goals. Our trainers look at posture, body composition, lifestyle and general movement habits to build a custom session for optimum results. Private sessions are made by appointment only with your desired trainer.
Can a friend and I get personal training together?
Yes. We call two-person training sessions “Duets.” They are a great way to stay committed to a regular workout schedule, because your friend will be counting on you. Duets work best when you and your partner can commit to the same schedule every week and have similar physical abilities and goals. If you are new to Pilates, we recommend attending a couple of private Pilates sessions before you team up for Duet sessions.
What if I need to cancel a class
Our cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance for classes, Privates and Semi-Privates. If you do not cancel before this window you will be automatically charged for the class or session. If you do not call to cancel and are a “No Show” then you will be charged an additional $5. If you late cancel and someone from the waitlist gets your spot, you are still charged for the late cancel. To cancel a class you may cancel online, phone the studio or send an email. Sorry, no exceptions.
What if classes are full
Definitely hop on the wait list for a class – we’ll notify you if a space opens up and you can decide then if you want to join us. If the wait list is full and you really want in the class, stop by and we’ll put you in if there is a last-minute no show. We do allow clients who are signed up to join 10 minutes late so you may be “bumped” if the signed-up client shows up (don’t worry you won’t pay for the few minutes you got to work out).
Can I sign up for a class if I've never done Pilates?
We ask you to take our 1-on-1 training on equipment before signing up for any of the classes. If you have done Pilates mat classes before, then you are one step ahead, but you still need to gain experience using the equipment. We want our classes to be challenging for all levels, so we ask that people know the basics before jumping into classes.
What if my classes expire?
We give you lots of time to use them. Please check the package expiration to make sure it fits your time frame.
What if I'm late to class?
For your own safety and as a courtesy to others, we do not allow people to join the class who are more than 10 minutes late. We know schedules can get harried, but please try to arrive to class on time.
